Acrylic Gouache on Illustration Board

Canvas Prints

Patrick Shane Wilson is a lifelong creative professional originally from Florence, Alabama. His mother Jan Roblin was a popular art teacher who owned Spanish Oaks Gallery & School of Art, a staple of the local community for decades. Young Shane's own art career started early at age 11, when he won first place in the national "What's Your Drawing Power?" contest sponsored by NBC studios.

He attended Alabama School of Fine arts and film school at state University of New York at Purchase. Today Shane is an award-winning commercial producer based in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is currently Artist-in-Residence at the Historic Malco Theatre in Hot Springs, where his solo exhibit "Past is Prologue"  is now on display.

This new series of stylish gouache portraits evokes the mystery and romance of a bygone era. Shane's technique involves large hand-drawn images carefully painted in velvety gouache on premium illustration board, limited to a palette of black, white and only four shades of gray.

Each expression betrays a long held secret and every shadow has its own hidden agenda. Inspired by silent film stars and art deco glamour, Shane's dramatic paintings tell the stories of lost love and dashed hope, of faded memories and our desire to recapture them, if only for a moment.
